“Thank you for your service.”

“Thank you for your service.” It’s a common phrase you have likely heard spoken in the presence of a man or woman in military uniform, and this is as it should be. These brave individuals carry on a tradition that spans hundreds of years, serving and protecting our country and its people. On November 11th, we thank and honor those who came before. Who served our country in war and in peace. Our proud Veterans.

The United States is unique in its commitment to honor and care for Veterans. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), these roots trace all the way back to 1636, over a century before our Founders even dreamt of independence, when the Pilgrims of Plymouth Colony passed a law to provide support to disabled soldiers.

It is something we have always done, and it is something we must always do.

The VA’s mission is, “…to care for those ‘who shall have borne the battle’ and for their families and survivors.” As these words so eloquently put it, both on and off the field of battle, our Veterans never serve alone. They belong to a greater whole that includes not just their fellow service members but their families, loved ones, and survivors.

DSS is a Veteran-owned company, and we are committed to serving those who serve Veterans. We are humbled and honored to recognize that we, too, never serve alone. That we share this commitment with so many others as part of a far greater whole.

Today, VA provides care and assistance to more than nine million Veterans, and it is a privilege to contribute, alongside so many others, in helping VA achieve its mission to care for those who shall have born the battle.

To the heroes who served, and the heroes who serve them, we thank you for your service.
