DSS, Inc. Presenting at the 2022 AMSUS Virtual Annual Meeting
Focus on how real-time suicide prevention decision support can help in achieving compliance with the VA’s enterprise-wide Safety Planning in the Emergency Department (SPED) initiative
JUNO BEACH, Fla. (February 15, 2022) — Document Storage Systems, Inc. (DSS, Inc.), a leading provider of health information technology (HIT) solutions for federal, private and public healthcare organizations, today announced that it is presenting at the 2022 AMSUS Virtual Annual Meeting on February 22-25.
Titled, “Real-Time Suicide Prevention Decision Support for Achieving Maximal Compliance with Safety Planning in the Emergency Department Policies in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs,” this poster session will highlight how real-time suicide prevention decision support solutions can enhance compliance with the VA’s enterprise-wide Safety Planning in the Emergency Department (SPED) initiative.
David LaBorde, M.D., CEO, Iconic Data Inc., and Senior Advisor, DSS, Inc., will present and highlight how medical centers can employ real-time data, analytics and push notifications to achieve high reliability in their hospital operations. Safety planning in the emergency department has been shown to reduce suicide risk. Methodical implementation of SPED is critical as any missed safety plans could result in a Veteran suicide that may have otherwise been preventable.
The poster session is based on data from the DSS Iconic Data Suicide Prevention Manager (SPM), which helps VA medical centers deliver highly reliable suicide prevention care. The application monitors the care of Veterans at high risk for suicide and can identify, in real-time, potential defects in the Veteran’s care that may require intervention. It also helps suicide prevention coordinators save time by streamlining their workflows leading to improved employee experience.
“The safety and well-being of Veterans, and supporting the VA’s efforts to enhance suicide prevention, is a critical priority at DSS, Inc.,” said Mark Byers, President of DSS, Inc. “This presentation will share how VAMCs can leverage the right solution that helps to enhance SPED compliance while also potentially reducing Veteran suicides.”
With the theme “Healthcare Transformation Starts with Medical Education and Training,” the 2022 AMSUS Virtual Annual Meeting is hosted by the Society of Federal Health Professionals. It is a non-profit, member-based association providing education and professional development benefits to support federal health professionals and their missions at the Departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs, Health and Human Services, and Homeland Security; and our industry partners and advocates for advancing health for all.
